Nissan Motors Finance’s latest market data shows stable funding costs despite the broader auto sector facing margin pressures. Shares tied to Nissan’s financing arm hover near ¥1,320, backed by steady loan portfolio growth. Analysts forecast a mild uptick in demand for vehicle financing in Q3 due to improving consumer credit sentiment. More than half of new-vehicle shoppers are either "very likely" (24%) or "somewhat likely" (35%) to consider buying an EV in the next 12 months, rates that have remained fairly consistent for the past year, according to a September study by J.D. Power. In the first quarter, Nissan recorded global sales of 707,000 units and consolidated net revenue of 2.7 trillion yen. While improvements in product mix and reductions in fixed costs helped mitigate losses—resulting in a smaller-than-expected operating loss of 79.1 billion yen compared to the earlier forecast of 200 billion yen—the company continued to face headwinds. These included lower sales volumes, adverse exchange rate movements, and the impact of U.S. tariffs. Consequently, the net loss for the period amounted to 115.8 billion yen. Share performance remains correlated with Nissan Motor Co., but financial segment stability gives investors defensive exposure within cyclical auto equities.
