Financial sector earnings are exceeding expectations. "Tax free investing" through certain ETFs tracking federally exempt instruments allows reinvestment without immediate tax liabilities, ideal for compounding yield from strong dividend plays. The budget proposals, taken up during a session that began Oct. 2 and stretched into Oct. 3, totaled $51.8 billion for general government and $24.1 billion for education, for a $75.9 billion budget total. But a House Fiscal Agency report shows that total artificially reduced by the way billions in federal funding is accounted for, by moving Medicaid money to contingency funds where they are not included in the budget total. It's not yet clear how the total top-line number will compare to the 2025 fiscal year's $82.5 billion total. Yeah. At this point, I mean, the law is permanent. I mean, you never what's going to be taken up in the future. But people should start thinking about that. But the new benefits under the new regime for investments in 2027 are pretty close to the earlier regime. There are some new incentives for qualified rural opportunity zones. There is a five year deferral, a 10% basis step up if you hold for five years. And again, that ability to wipe out future appreciation up to a period of 30 years. So pretty significant issues to think about. The Russell 2000’s 2.3% weekly gain suggests small-cap optimism. Pairing growth picks with "tax free investing" in long-term retirement plans may optimize net returns, particularly under projected 2025 tax bracket adjustments.
