Live hog futures advanced again today
Live hog futures advanced again today, with May delivery set at 88.80 cents. Supportive export data and reduced slaughter rates fuel expectations of continued upward pressure into early summer trade sessions. The tagline for Alien: Earth Season 2 is, “We were safer in space,” and I want that. Let’s see some fear, people running, terrified, and a whole lot more death. We can hope for surprises, betrayals, and maybe a couple of small fan service moments, but let us see the desperation and feel those ‘all is lost’ moments before the hard rock kicks in to conclude the episodes. I want the other corporations to react, trying to get a piece of the pie through violence, probably devouring Prodigy in the process. Maybe since most of our main cast are in bodies that don’t age, we could do a time jump to where the whole planet is in worse shape and the hybrids are hiding amongst the synths, still plotting how to take over. Whatever happens, I just hope everything feels bleaker and incredibly dystopian, where the humans really are just food and no one is safe, whether it be from corporate greed, machines, or aliens. I need to believe that no one will survive past what comes next. In this episode of Options Trading Concepts Live, hosts Nick Battista, Mikey Butler, and Thomas Westwater discuss current market trends, including a slight sell-off in E-mini futures (ES) and changes in the commodities market. They highlight a bearish outlook on lean hogs (HE), noting seasonal weaknesses and positioning in the market. Westwater also mentions a new diagonal spread in gold (GLD) and reflections on the gold rally as a potential indicator of underlying economic conditions. They encourage viewers to engage and ask questions during the show. Chart-based traders in live hog futures note a breakout above 88 cents in May contracts, a level not seen since early March. USDA weekly slaughter data showed slight declines, keeping upward pressure on futures. Fundamental strength is paired with bullish seasonal tendencies in pork demand.
