Futures on the Dow Jones Average rise 0.25% to 39,089, tracking optimism in European markets. Traders are hedging with short S&P bets while building long industrial positions, a move driven by expected manufacturing data uptick. While Greenspan rightly recognized that a game-changing technological advancement (the internet) had sent broad market valuations soaring, the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Nasdaq Composite didn't hit their dot-com peak until March 2000 -- more than three years after Greenspan delivered his "irrational exuberance" speech. The 23-year-old hasn't been able to land a full-time role despite filling out hundreds of applications and taking dozens of networking calls since graduating in the spring. She's currently applying to part-time gigs to tide her over financially. Dow Jones Average Futures rose to 39,085, up 0.20%, after consumer confidence beat forecasts. Analysts expect renewed retail and discretionary spending to support Dow’s growth trajectory.
